How to register as a volunteer

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and offering your time and skills to benefit local nature conservation, please tell us more about yourself and your interests by completing the Expression of Interest form and send it to our Volunteering Team.

Send the completed form to volunteer.enquiries@naturalengland.org.uk

Our Volunteering Team will try to match your interests and skills to the roles available. If a suitable role is available, we will contact you to tell you what opportunities we have and to offer you a voluntary placement.

If no suitable role is immediately available, we will store your details, confidentially, for up to six months. We may contact you and suggest alternative voluntary placements - either with Natural England or with other conservation organisations.

If you become a volunteer with Natural England you will receive:

  • information on your voluntary role and how it contributes to our work
  • induction training into the regional office and to your role
  • information on health, safety and welfare
  • an identity card for use during your voluntary role
  • any protective clothing or equipment required for your role (on loan)
  • copies of newsletters, leaflets, publications or handbooks that may be of interest.

You will also be:

  • entitled to claim for agreed out-of-pocket expenses
  • part of a team of paid staff and other volunteers.
