Natural England - Register of agents

Register of agents

Natural England maintains a register of agents working on Environmental Stewardship

How the register is used

The register is used to help us:

  • Keep agents up to date about Environmental Stewardship.

  • Provide farmers and land managers with details of agents who are able to complete Environmental Stewardship applications.

  • Provide FEP (Farm Environment Plan) surveyors with details of farmers and land managers who may need assistance with FEPs.

Agents - how you can join the register

  • Complete and submit the registration form: (186kb)word document and send it to the appropriate email address(es) in the table below.  Separate registers are maintained for each region, so if you work across different regions you should send a copy of the form to each one.

  • If you only want to receive information and updates we will not publish or pass on your details.

  • If you wish to be registered as a FEP surveyor we will send you an additional form to complete and sign.  This is to satisfy data protection requirements and will allow us to pass on applicants’ details to you.  If you would like details of training courses for FEP surveyors in your area please email us at fepregister@naturalengland.org.uk.

How we maintain the register

Natural England:

  • Does not endorse any person or organisation on the register.

  • Does not carry out any checks on the qualifications of the agents listed.

  • Retains complete control of the register, including the discretion to discontinue its use or to remove any particular agent for any reason whatsoever.

  • Will not become involved in any contractual dispute between agent and client.

  • Will aim to update the list every month.

Farmers - how to use the register to find an agent

Before choosing an agent:

  • Produce a shortlist of possible agents based on the details provided in the register.

  • Get at least two, preferably three, quotations from different agents.

  • Ask whether VAT has been included or not.

  • Check that the agent has the necessary qualifications, knowledge and experience to suit your needs.

  • Ask to see references and/or example(s) of the agent’s work.

In the event that you select an agent to assist you with your Environmental Stewardship application or any administration / management of your Environmental Stewardship agreement, Natural England has no responsibility for any acts or omissions of the agent in relation to the provision of such services to yourself.
