In this area Natural England’s aim is to ensure that the loss of England’s biodiversity is halted and then reversed, and that our ecosystems and habitats are resilient to climate change.
The main focus of our biodiversity evidence programme is to monitor the change in habitats and species and to understand how to reverse declines. We assess progress towards our biodiversity targets, and carry out research to develop techniques that will enable us to restore species populations, such as through reintroductions, and to restore and create habitats, including through Environmental Stewardship.
