For the first time, Natural England’s took their Environmental Stewardship (ES) stand to the NSA Sheep event held at the Three Counties Showground near Malvern, Worcestershire and it turned out to be one of their busiest shows this year.
As a key business event in the sheep farming calendar, over 400 farmers sought advice from Natural England advisers on a range of issues including Entry Level Stewardship (ELS) renewals, Uplands ELS and the Campaign for Farmed Environment. The farm model proved a particular hit with farmers, helping to explain and demonstrate key options for environmental management on sheep farms. Rural Payment Agency (RPA) colleagues were also on hand to answer any mapping queries.
In addition to the stand, and as ‘mainline sponsors’, Natural England also hosted a seminar in conjunction with Lloyds TSB entitled ‘ Sheep – adding value to your business and the environment’. The seminar was well attended, with an informative talk from one of our farmer champions - James Evans from Walcot Farm, Shropshire providing a real life overview of what ES means to his business.
In all, the showground was very busy with various shearing and sheep dog displays alongside core business and supplier stands providing an informative and worthwhile event for all visitors.
