Natural England is investigating the impacts of Climate Change on our natural environment. As part of a national project Natural England has already run a series of pilot studies, covering four landscapes (in Cumbria, Norfolk, Shropshire and Dorset) across four other English regions. The Yorkshire and The Humber region is continuing this project in the Humberhead Levels National Character Area (NCA).
The study will:
identify the key environmental assets in the Humberhead Levels National Character Area and the benefits we derive from them
consider the vulnerability of these assets to changing climate
and identify actions that could protect or even enhance them.
External partners have received a series of draft templates which begin to capture the above, and have been asked to modify, and challenge the content. Thereafter we will be organising workshops to look at adaptive actions and how we ensure actions in one area don’t harm assets in another.
